9만불의 유자금을 투자한 사업에 실패하고 휴식을 위해 계획한 여행마저 카드회사의 연체금 납부 요구로 무산되자 잠시 세상을 피해 휴식을 취할 곳을 찾던 다릴 포인터는 '코즈웨이 하우스'라는 마약 중독자 치료 프로그램을 알게 된다. 완전 치료와 사생활 보장, 충분한 휴식을 제공한다는 선전에 매료된 다릴은 그 프로그램에 참가하게 되는데 몇 번 마약을 하기는 했으나 자신이 중독자 일리가 없다고 믿던 그에게 혼란이 찾아든다. 한편 에전에 동거하던 애인이 코카인 중독으로 인해 교통 사고를 일으켜 숨을 거두게 된다.
